Ever thought of breaking out of our ‘work’ shell once in a while and meeting new people? I do, well most of the time. It’s just that sometimes you need to have a breath of fresh air especially when you’re cooped up in that tiny little cubicle of yours, busy crunching the calculators to death. That’s why sometimes I’d go and meet up with the Road runners. Who?? Well, they are a bunch of crazy people from Mix FM who goes around giving out freebies to those who managed to ‘catch’ them. Now you might say that I’m just another freebie lover, but somehow it’s undeniable that you do meet some interesting people during the crosses. For e.g. I just came back from the cross nearby my house and was talking to this guy who is an editor for an airlines & weapons/defence magazine. I really enjoyed the conversation though I had no clue on what airline or new guns out in the market that he was telling me about. Well, beats listening to “I need this report by xxx time” or “Our server is down again” time and again. Boy, if I were any younger and hip/cool, I’ll definitely be one of them going places and giving out freebies.

Dilbert once say that “People who work in accounting dept often work 12 hour days creating reports that nobody cares about. This gives them a very bad attitude. Do not attempt humor around them.” What a joke (no pun intended). This maybe true in the past. We’re so often portrayed as some geeky bespectacled nerd (actually I look a bit like tat), who only dresses up in colours of black, blue or white. But times have changed. Some of my colleagues have even crazier antics than me! A little while back, I was asking my workmates on what they would be if they were not in accounts. Here are some of their interesting answers:

WZ – ??? (I guess he never tot of it before or he is really happy with Scumster Inc.)

Chilli – Children book store keeper I think (gr8 cos she’s an ulat buku)

PL – rich man’s wife (hmm is that even a job?)

Nik – engineer (still not too late to change now, bro)

AA – engineer or pilot (what’s with the engineer thingy lar)

SY – forensic doctor (watched too many CSIs lar this girl, but then again she’s weird, so it’s ok)

 YY – accountant (either the most sane or insane person in my office)

Virgie – teacher (suits her motherly character very well)

Me – events management or stand up comedian (wonder if they’ll laugh at me or with me… hmm)
