The Eye
Went to the Eye on Malaysia last nite with a group of frens. It rained heavily in the afternoon, but luckily the weather turned out ok when we arrived around 7.30 p.m. Not surprisingly, there was a very long queue towards Malaysia’s largest wheel.
Besides that, there is also an international watersky specatacular show, the laser dance together with the fireworks show. The latter’s last show will be tonight 25 Feb 07.
Night Tour
Man, the weather is really unpredictable. One night it can be scorching hot until you just feel like sleeping naked. Today it’s been pouring cats/dogs/cows since the evening rush home. And of all days, today is the day I chose to go back at 5.30 sharp. Bummer. It’s like God could hear me and wanted to make my journey difficult..Urgghh
I was rushing back home for a special group discussion at Astro, a special invite from a certain radio station. You see, about 16 of us were randomly selected via phone (being past contest winners
) to give ahem.. a so-called constructive feedback/views on programs of the station. The discussion was supposed to start at 7 p.m, and I only arrived around 7.30 due to traffic and misdirection by the guards. I mean can you help not being lost when the Malay guy points you to the building known to have a Yellow roof… Aiyo, uncle.. ALL the buildings in Astro has yellow roofs.. duh.. and coupled with the heavy rain, I was cursing myself all the way.
Ok back to the meeting. Luckily there was another guy who was late as well. So it didn’t look so bad when there were about 15 pairs of eyes looking at out in the room, including the station manager. It’s interesting to know that there are quite a few contest freaks out there. More so than me. The guy next me actually confessed that he once took a fake MC so that he could take part in some contest.. wow.. and there was this 20+ girl who got to watch AND touch Gary Barlow as the grand prize winner for a free concert trip to Taiwan. Double wow..
All in all, we had a very ‘intellectual’ sharing of views about the station and radio industry in general. Mind you even the views of 16 ppl can be so diverse, what more on a total population of 25 mil. Radio is competitive. Anyways, we also got free makan and a token of $$, but the saving the best for last, a tour of the radio station and the mechanics on how they selected e.g the 9th caller. Pity we weren’t allowed to snap pictures. Did meet a few DJs on duty notably Adam C on his night shift on Hitz. The guy is really small size as he had described himself.. We left the place around 10 pm and it was still pouring… unfortunately, that still couldn’t take away my interesting night tour inside a radio station…
